I Scream, You Scream...

We have been itching for some ice cream recently. I had a brilliant idea of walking to get ice cream. I figured we both want to start working out again and this would also be some quality time together.

Well...  Two miles and one sweaty hour later we arrived to Shirley's at the local plaza to try some of their delicious frozen custard! Their shoppe was fun with vintage chairs and fun decor on the walls.

The frozen custard hit the spot! It cooled us off just long enough before we started the two mile, one hour hike again.

Knock Off Bracelet

My first DIY post!

I have seen numerous knock-off posts of various kinds. Finally I decided to do one. Good thing, I found I am a good knock-off-er. Bad thing, I am new to photographing my DIY projects, so I do not have any step-by-step photos to post for this one. First time for everything, right?

I did find step-by-step instructions and a kit to make your own here. She has great photos, lots of easy directions and her kits have lots of fun colors! I am partial to the bright blue - I love that color!

I happened to have all the supplies at home, lucky me!

Here are a couple photos of my finished product.

I'm really happy with the way they turned out. I love the bling and how the hemp still makes it beachy and island friendly. Definitely something I can wear for fun and for work!

Have you made any fun bracelets lately?

Sunday Funday

Happy Father's Day to all those amazing dads out there!

Since I did not get the opportunity to spend this day with the important men in my life, I opted to go catch some rays!

I visited Smather's Beach for the first time. It was nice and quiet and surprisingly empty! I guess dad's don't care for the beach on their special day...

After I was all beached out - I headed over to hang out at a pool in town. Sipped on a frozen margarita, caught up on some Kindle reading, and enjoyed beautiful bright colors of spring.

It was a nice, relaxing day. Except now I am sunburned... Oops... I didn't reapply enough!

How did you enjoy your Sunday, with or without dad?

A fresh start...

So, why the name change to key lime anchor?

Living in the beautiful Florida Keys, I have gained a new affinity for those lovely little citrus gems. The juice tastes great in my cooking and my ice water. They also make for a delicious pie or martini.

I like to think that an anchor has taken a new symbolism in my life. Living here, my husband and I have more opportunities to go out on the water and enjoy time together. I also feel the Florida Keys in my new anchor - my home. We are planning on being here for a while and I am looking forward to every minute.

I hope this blog becomes a journal of life, inspiration, creativity, and love.

Let's do this!

7-27-27

No... That is not a date in the future. That is my new goal.

I have been struggling for several years now to lose, and keep off, those last 7-10 pounds. Now that my birthday is right around the corner, I am using it as a great focus to get rid of them.

It is going to be tough, but I know I can do it if I set my mind to it. I may even do updates. (I need to, I have totally neglected this thing since real life started getting real again.)

This will kick off on February 27th! Wish me luck!

Puppies and Sand Bars!

We decided to go to the sand bars this weekend. The puppies came along. It was a beautiful day. If you can believe it, this was the first time just Ryan and I have been on the boat. No joke! We love bringing our friends and family on the boat, so I guess we just never have the time to go by ourselves.

We had fun playing with the puppies and looking for shells. Plans were brewed for the next time we come to the sand bar... We need a beach umbrella, chairs, tent, cooler, the list continues.

Looking forward to many more trips to the bars! Come visit us, we will take you, too!

Puppy play time for Grizzly and Gracie!

Grizzly blowing bubbles under water!

Just beautiful...

Itty bitty stone crab! I have no idea how Ryan spotted it!

We are hoping to find a big one like this soon! That is Ryan and pups in the background.

Sunday Funday!!

Grizzly trying to get the only shade on the bar...

To finish the day off, there were puppy baths and a relaxed dinner at No Name Pub. A wonderful way to spend a Sunday!

Out with the Old... In with the New!

So... About 2 weeks after we moved, my car decided to die while on my way to work.

Ryan makes fun of me for my description of the whole situation... Here is a vague recollection of the conversation...

Ryan: What happened to the car again? Weren't you watching the temperature gauge?
Kristin: Well, I wasn't really paying attention to the temperature gauge because I was low on gas and was paying attention to that gauge. Then I noticed the car was stuck at 3000 RPMs. Then, when I tried to turn off the road, The power steering seized up. When I stopped the car, the temperature was tapped out and the car was billowing white smelly smoke.
Ryan: Did you hear any sounds?
Kristin: What? No - I was too busy paying attention to my gas gauge.
Ryan: OK - Well, did the smoke smell like anything?
Kristin: (said matter of factly) Like burning oil and rubber, from the front corner.
Ryan: (getting frustrated with my lack of vehicle knowledge) Huh? Nothing in that area of the hood would smell like rubber or oil.
Kristin: Well it did. And the lady cop who was with me smelled the same thing.
Ryan: Ooook. Did you turn the car off, or did it turn it self off?
Kristin: Seriously? I don't remember... I think it was me. I was just trying to get off the road so I didn't get hit by any cars. Isn't that what I am supposed to do?
Ryan: Yes, Baby. Thank you for not getting hit by any cars.

After this day, we carpooled to work for about a week. We weighed the options of fixing the car vs. getting another one. We got tired of waking up early and then driving around Old Town trying to find meeting points. So, to make a long story short (and get in the Halloween spirit)...

I am very much enjoying my 2008 Ford Edge! Her name is Miss Pumpkin. She has all the features Mr. Lanc-r didn't have!
Like:
A/C
cruise control
tinted windows
full lit dash board
The list can continue, but I will stop.

Coming soon - Pictures of my OTHER RIDE! Oh, just wait!
